Some may have a problem with the words, because some of my lyrics tend to be pretty “edgy” for Christian music. But I have to say it the way it is. As I have said before, I’m on a mission to tell the whole truth, no matter how hard it is for some to swallow. The state of the church is becoming a sad case. More and more Christians that used to be dedicated to biblical truth are now slowly falling away from solid doctrine. In 2nd Timothy 4:1-4 , the apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, “In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage —with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”
This is what is happening in the churches today. They deny that the Word of God was inspired by the Holy Spirit. They want to take only those parts of the Bible that suit their own tastes, and throw away the rest, yet, all the while claim the Bible is the holy book they live by. These people are spiritual hypocrites, and if they proceed to compromise their belief in major doctrines of the Word, the Bible says such people will be condemned. There will be no hypocrites living in eternity in the presence of the Lord. (Of course, these people probably don’t believe that either.) So, being called by the Lord to teach through my lyrics, I have to write some things that may not be pleasant for some to hear. So be it. I’d rather die being faithful to God rather than fearing what man may think of me.
Some may say, “Well, the truth of the Bible is left up to personal interpretation. So, there are no absolutes”. I recently read an article about a theologian who spent 80 years of his life comparing most of the modern translations of the Bible for discrepancies. His conclusion was that about 85% of all scripture in those translations was identical in essence of meaning! God has made sure the truth of His Word has been preserved as much as possible by Him working in the hearts and minds of dedicated people of God. It is the rest of humankind who seems to be hell bent on interjecting their own philosophies and rationale to prove the inconsistencies in and invalidation of the Bible.
Believe me, I try not to be pessimistic about the state of the church today. I try to be hopeful for humankind that does not yet know Christ. But I cannot and will not run away from reality and bury my head in the sand. As a witness and soldier for God, I would be of no use to Him at all. I love you all, and that is why I humbly ask you to keep this in mind when you hear or read my lyrics.
As always, let us love others as God has loved us through His Son, Christ Jesus.
